trouble setting up AT&T voicemail

Hi all,
I went back to the AT&T store and got myself the Pantech Breeze 3. It has a surprising amount of out of the box accessibility. Anyway, the problem I'm now having is that when I press 1 to go into my voicemail, it says something about needing more information before it can direct my call to the correct mailbox. The options are either enter the number of the person you want to leave a message for or press pound if you have a mailbox on this system. So I press pound, and it asks me to enter a mailbox number. I have no idea what that would be. I tried my phone number, the last 4 digits of my phone number, the last 4 digits of my social security number, even the password I used when I tried and failed to set up voicemail when I had the Iphone. Short of calling customer service, which I'll do if it comes down to it, is there something I can do to get it past this mailbox number thing? I looked at the website and it made it sound like all you have to do is press and hold 1 and it will walk you through the voicemail setup process. Obviously that's not happening right now. Also, did my trying to set it up with the Iphone screw it up somehow? When I was trying that last week, I called it from my old phone and it said the person you have reached does not have a voice mailbox on this system. Now when anyone calls me all they get is a busy signal after the fourth ring. I'm hoping it's not messed up beyond repair because having voicemail is important. Thanks for any help you all can give me.

the IPhone would have noting to do with it, it's just another device as far as the phone system is concerned. my best advice is to call AT&T, they should have all the info you need and if needed they can reset your info i do believe.

When it asks for your mailbox number, try typing in your ten digit cell phone--area code, prefix, and last four digits. If you can't get it to gelp you set it up that way, call AtandT.
